Introducing

SOPHIE HUNTER

"A memory of Elephants. The collective noun speaks volumes. Elephants stand as sentinels, wise emblems of our ancient natural world. One of the most pressing challenges of our generation is how we confront the climate emergency we live in. The Great Elephant Migration creates a profound collective experience. We are asked to bear witness to the symbiotic relationship between humanity and the natural world, and so a vital sense of a shared responsibility is fostered.

I am reminded of the words of the late poet Mary Oliver: “Attention is the beginning of devotion”. Both an observation and a quiet challenge to look, to truly engage, imaginatively and empathically with the world. The Great Elephant Migration is a project that helps us do just that. I am fiercely proud to be joining other Matriarchs on this journey. This is an urgent invitation to remember and so re-configure our relationship with the natural world, to embrace the power of the sacred feminine within us all in the fight for our future."
